A moisturizer should be an integral part of every skin care routine. Actually most people don’t even know why it’s important to keep your skin hydrated. In this product recommendation we will shortly explain why you should use a moisturizer and we present you the different products for the various skin types. It’s a keystone to use a product that will exactly address the needs of your skin type so it’s worth to invest a few minutes reading…
I always use a moisturizer as the last step of my skincare routine. In most cases I do my skincare routine (including face mask etc.) in the evening so I use a night cream/lotion afterwards.
Before you start with a new product I would always do a patch test. You can apply the moisturizer on a small area of your neck for one week to check the reaction of your skin.
- 1. Our daily choice(for all types of skin): Weleda Skin Food(Amazon Link)
- 2. For oily skin: Neutrogena, Hydro Boost Water Gel(Amazon Link)
- 3. For sensitive/dry skin: La Roche-Posay Toleriane Riche(Amazon Link)
- 4. Great but relatively expensive Choice: TATCHA The Water Cream (Amazon Link)
- for daily use
- well-known in the beauty community
- grat for every skin type
This is my number one choice when it comes to daily moisturizing. I actually use this cream twice per day, in the morning and in the evening as a night cream. As the favourite cream of Julia Roberts, Viktoria Beckham and well-known YouTube beauties this product achieved great awareness. There are also dozens of rave reviews in the beauty community which confirm this opinion.
The cream is not complete fragrance free but I absoluetely like the smell. It’s not that offensive so don’t worry too much about that point. The formula is pretty thick so you should be aware that after applying the cream your skin might look a little greasy. Ask yourself if you are comfortable with that before buying.
For me this is the best daily moisturizer because it is really great and affordable. I don’t like to buy creams for 50-100 $ and use them everyday.
- great for oily skin
- is rather a hydrator than a moisturizer
- don’t use this on dry skin, you will end up with flaky, irritated skin
In case you have oily skin the task for your cream is to absorb the oil while hydrating your skin.Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel is a great solution in this situation. I sometimes you this during the summer because I get some breakouts on my forehead.
Don’t make the mistake to use this on dry skin. They say you can use it for every skin type but I would actually only use this for oily skin. There are a few negatives reviews on amazon and all concern about the drying effect of the moisturizer.
Foe sensitive skin we recommend the La Roche-Posay Protextice Moisturizer. This product is absolutely unbeatable for senstive or very sensitive skin. It’s ingredients are (among others) Shea butter and La Roche Thermal Spring water. If you use this moisturizer on a daily basis your skin will be smooth and soft. The Shea Butter will refill lipids on your skin surface. It’s fragrance free and allergy tested so you don’t have to worry any reactions caused by this product.
There are tons of great reviews on amazon and many people use this against skin disorders like cystic acne or rosacea. I use this product 3-4 times per year. There are certain periods (e. g. during the winter) when my skin requests more care than normal and that’s when I go for the La Roche-Posay. As you can see this product is a little bit on the expensive side so this is not my everyday choice. Though, if you suffer from dry skin through the complete year it might be worth to invest a bit more money to keep your skin in good shape.
I really love this one. It’s simply great with really no downside except its price. This one is expensive and normally you don’t want to use it daily. I always tell my family and friends that I would like to have this as a birthday present.
The Tatcha box is looks really valuable and the moisturizer itself is a water based cream with tons of (japanese) nutrients for your skin. Belive me it is the one of the best moisturizers I ever used.
What is a Moisturizer?
If you want to understand what a moisturizer is you need to know the difference between moisturize and hydrate. Moisturizers and hydrators, both make sure that the skin gets all the water needed to fight dryness. But there is a difference in how they work. The moisturizer keeps the water inside your skin and build up a protective barrier while the hydrator keeps the water inside the skin cells.
How Can You Know if You Need a Moisturizer or a Hydrator?
Actually that is pretty simple. If your skin is dry and flaky you need a moisturizer because the lipid layer on the skin is not able to hold the water inside and the skin barrier is irritated. If you start to see wrinkles and fine lines you probably need a hydrator.
Why Do We Recommend Moisturizers On a Healing Clay Page?
When using healing clay, like bentonite clay, you benefit in many ways
but sometimes the surface of your skin is stressed and slightly irritated after
the treatment. To repair the skin and get everything back to normal a good
moisturizer is vital.
You need to find the right product for your skin and we help you doing this.
